ANOTHER LOOK
We’re almost through with the 2nd month of the New Year. If you haven’t already done so, this is the ideal opportunity to take stock of how far you’ve gotten with achieving your goals for 2015. If things have been heading in the right direction, give yourself a pat on the back and keep up the good work! But if you’ve fallen off the wagon or allowed life to get in the way of getting what you want, it’s still not too late to steer things back on track. Here are some tips that you can use to help guide you along:
1) Keep a journal
Maintaining some form of record as you pursue your goal can help keep you focused.
Tracking your actions and their respective outcomes will allow you to regularly review your progress. This can prove powerful whenever you feel like you aren’t moving forward because you’ll be able to see what actions got you to your current state and subsequently decide on what else to do instead.
2) Break it down
Most of the goals set at the turn of the year initially appear to be relatively attainable in the short/medium term. However, if when motivation wanes, these goals can suddenly feel
unrealistic. In such situations, setting a few smaller goals can help encourage you to stay on track while working towards the bigger picture. Chipping away at these mini-goals and celebrating small successes can make achieving your goals seem less daunting.
3) Rope in your friends!
Find out what goals your friends have and buddy up! Surrounding yourself with those who share the same goals as you can keep you and your friends accountable to each other. You might also be surprised to learn that they are experiencing the same struggles as you. Lend a listening ear and help to keep each other’s spirits high. As the old adage goes, a burden shared is a burden halved!
We hope these tips come in handy as you continue your journey of achieving your goals set for this year. Stay focused and consistent!
